We’re looking for a highly motivated and coachable Apprentice Dog Trainer to join our team! This is a unique opportunity for someone who is eager to learn the art and science of dog training while developing strong communication and leadership skills. This paid, hands-on apprenticeship is designed to prepare you to work with both dogs and their humans. We're currently accepting applications for this position and will be reviewing them at the beginning of the year.

About the Role:

  • Over the course of a 3-month probationary period, you will work closely with our Head Trainer to learn foundational training methods, client communication, and how to lead effective training sessions. This role is perfect for someone with a deep desire to help dogs and their owners build better relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shadow the Head Trainer: Learn training methods, communication strategies, and how to guide both dogs and owners through challenges.

  • Assist in Training Sessions: Gain hands-on experience helping with structured lessons and real-world scenarios.

  • Develop Communication Skills: Learn how to clearly explain training concepts, give constructive feedback, and navigate difficult conversations with empathy and professionalism.

  • Support Lesson Planning: Help create engaging, effective training plans tailored to client goals.

  • Lead Portions of Lessons: As your confidence grows, you’ll begin taking the lead in parts of sessions with support from the Head Trainer.

  • Embrace a Growth Mindset: Receive and apply feedback, ask questions, and actively work to improve your skills each week.

Post-Apprenticeship Opportunity:

Upon successful completion of the 3-month apprenticeship, you may be offered a permanent position as a Dog Trainer with our team. This role includes increased responsibilities, continued mentorship, and a pay increase based on performance and readiness to lead sessions independently. We are invested in developing long-term team members and value those who are committed to growth and delivering high-quality training and client support.

Compensation Package:

  • Hourly pay $25/hr

Schedule:

  • 9.5 hour shifts

  • One hour lunch

  • Day shift

  • Full time and part time positions available

  • Monday through Thursday 9am-7:30 pm (schedule varies depending on FT/PT)

  • Saturdays as needed (Some Saturdays required from 9am-10am or 9am-12 pm)

Schedule and Availability

Schedule: Monday through Thursday 9am to 7:30pm (one hour lunch) and a one hour pack walk every Saturday from 9am to 10am. We may open up Fridays in the future, we also have one Saturday per month where the hours are 9 am-12 pm.
